
ALASKA โ Manchester native Aliy Zirkleย lost some ground, slippingย back Sunday in the standings into a familiar place she doesn’t want to be โย second-place position โ ending up as of Monday morning in fourth place.
That, after maintaining the lead position at one point in Iditarod 2015 over the weekend.
Zirkle has finished second in her last three Iditarods, and is determined to win this year, although harsh conditions are taking a toll on all the racers.
According to reports out of Iditarod central, racers and dogs were battling through the treacherous cold, between 35 and 45 degrees below zero, in what is being described as “the coldest Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race ever.”
