Inmates with green thumbs: Annual prison plant sale May 18-21

Plants cultivated by inmates at the NH Prison.

CONCORD, NHย โ€“ย It’s planting season in New Hampshire, and a good plant sale is always welcome. Inmates from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections have cultivated an impressive array of plants to be sold May 18 – 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the NH State Prison Farm, 314 North State St. in Concord.

The Correctional Industries program is one of several vocational and industrial programs available to incarcerated inmates. ย Plants for saleย range fromย vegetables and annuals to herbs and perennials. They also produceย cord wood, campfire wood, hay bales, and picnic tables. A complete list of plants is available here.

The plants will be on display in the greenhouse behind the Correctional Industries showroom.ย  Personal checks, Visa and Master Card will be accepted for purchase (no cash).

New Hampshire Correctional Industries, New Hampshireโ€™s prison industry, creates revenue-generating work environments that provide inmates with the work experience, job skills, and the confident attitude they will need in order to obtain and hold jobs once released.
