Kolo provides game-winner on Pink Rink night

MANCHESTER, N.H. โ€“ ย Decked out in special uniforms to honor breast cancer survivors, the Manchester Monarchs defeated the Central Division leading Cincinnati Cyclones, 4-3.

Although the Cyclones put up eight first period goals a night earlier in Maine, Manchester thanks to Tony Cameranesiโ€™s wrap around goal. Cameranesi managed to slip past the glove side of Cincinnati goaltender Michael Houser, providing the Monarchs a lead just 1:44 into the contest.

Travis Walsh added another Monarchs goal off a deflected blue line shot just under three minutes later, but Myles Powell put Cincinnati on the board before the first intermission.

Alex Wideman evened this up for Cincinnati 13:47 into the second period. Cameranesi gave Manchester the lead on the faceoff immediately after Widemanโ€™s goal before Cincinnatiโ€™s Eric Knodel scored immediately after Cameranesiโ€™s goal to tie the game up yet again, with all three goals recorded in a span of just 18 seconds.

With just 1:55 left in regulation, Monarchs captain David Kolomatis provided the game-winning goal, his second game-winner in as many days.

With the win, Manchester (26-20-1-1) solidifies their hold over third place in the ECHLโ€™s North Division, with 18 of those wins now coming after scoring first.

Cincinnati (31-9-3-3) could not gain on the Florida Everblades in the chase for the Brabham Cup.

The Monarchs return to the ice at SNHU Arena on Sunday with a 3 p.m. contest against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
