MANCHESTER, N.H. – On Wednesday, Manchester Monarchs received their second post-regulation loss in as many weeks, falling 4-3 in overtime to the visiting Worcester Railers.
Sam Kurker tallied two of the Monarchs’ goals, and assisted on the other goal, a high-slot wrister from Kevin Dufour.
Barry Almeida, Nick Sorkin and Matthew Gaudreau contributed Worcester’s goals, with neither team able to find a fourth goal in the third period.
It ultimately came down to David Quennevile, who put home the game-winner just below the crossbar over the shoulder of Manchester Goaltender Charles Williams.
Manchester (29-24-2-2) now stands at 62 points, good enough for third place in the North Division, three points ahead of fourth-place Maine and five points behind second-place Adirondack.
The Monarchs can clinch a playoff berth with 19 points in their final 15 games. Next up is Adirondack, with puck drop at SNHU Arena scheduled for Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m.
