PRINCETON, N.J – On Thursday, the ECHL announced that Manchester Monarchs forward Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman was named to the 2017-’18 All-ECHL First Team.
The All-ECHL First Team and Second Team were determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, broadcasters, media relations directors and journalists covering teams in the league.
Selected in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL Draft by the then Atlanta Thrashers, LaVallee-Smotherman is second in the league so far this year with 34 goals.
This season he was named ECHL Player of the Week on two separate occasions in December and February.
On the front line he is joined by the league’s current highest goal scorer, Colorado’s Michael Joly, and the ECHL’s current leader in points, Fort Wayne’s Shawn Szydlowski.
Other members of the First Team include defensemen David Makowski (Allen) and Matt Register (Colorado) as well as South Carolina netminder Parker Milner.
Along with goaltender Pat Nagle of the Toledo Walleye, the Second Team’s members came entirely from the Cincinnati Cyclones (defenseman Eric Knodel, forwards Jesse Schultz and Justin Danforth) and the Reading Royals (defenseman Nolan Zajac and forward Matt Willows).
