MANCHESTER, NH โย Liberty House was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Service Credit Union Impact Foundation and Robert Irvine Foundation to help New Hampshire veterans rebuild stability and self-sufficiency after significant life challenges.
The grant will support Liberty Houseโs transitional housing program for veterans facing homelessness, post-traumatic stress, substance use disorder, and housing insecurity. Through the programโs innovative four-step model, veterans work toward long-term independence step by step โ reclaiming purpose, restoring health and wellness, securing employment, and transitioning into permanent housing.
โEvery day, veterans are rewriting their stories amid some of lifeโs greatest challenges,โ said Ashley Kitchell, executive director of Liberty House. โIncredible partners like the Service Credit Union Impact Foundation and the Robert Irvine Foundation allow us to meet the growing demand for our services and empower more veterans with the resources and support they need to build the futures they deserve.โ
Over the past year, Liberty House provided 5,296 nights of transitional housing for residents. 90 percent of residents established a bank account and 73 percent secured meaningful employment, while 12 residents successfully transitioned into independent housing. In addition, through its community pantry, more than 50,500 food, clothing, and other basic needs items were distributed to veterans in the community.
Funds for the grant were raised through the Service Credit Union Impact Foundationโs 6th Annual Golf Charity Classic, held this past August in partnership with the Robert Irvine Foundation.
โLiberty House has been a beneficiary of the Service Credit Union Impact Foundation since our inaugural Golf Charity Classic in 2020,โ said Sarah Kuhl, Director of the Service Credit Union Impact Foundation. โWe’re proud and honored to support Liberty Houseโs impactful work helping veterans rebuild stability, independence, and a renewed sense of purpose, while continuing to invest in New Hampshire’s veteran community.โ
