
MANCHESTER, NH โ Evan Kowalsky, 24, of Loudon, was arrested Jan. 24 by Manchester Police following a brief police chase that ended when Kowalsky crashed his car into the backyard of a Main Street property.
According to a police narrative, at about 1:30 a.m. Kowalsky was driving a Subaru Legacy asย he exited Interstate 293 at a high rate of speed, failing to stop for a stop sign at theย off ramp intersection with Harvell Street. Kowalsky alsoย failed to stop for north and south bound traffic on Second Street, according to an officer who observed the traffic violations and activated his emergency blue lights in an attempt to stop the Subaru.
Kowalsky slowed down in the area of Harvell and South Main Streetย but then sped off as the police cruiser approached, striking a sidewalk and snow bank with such force that his vehicle became airborne.
Police said Kowalsky continuedย westerly into the backyard of 559 S. Main St., driving through two large bushes and continuing into the backyard where he stopped, shifted intoย reverse, and drove backwards toward the police cruiser before coming to a stop.
Kowalski was taken into custody and charged with aggravated operating under the influence and disobeying a police officer. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizanceย bail and is due in court onย February 5, 2015.
