MANCHESTER, N.H. –  The New Hampshire Fisher Cats nearly shut out the Reading Fightin’ Phils for the second day in a row, defeating them 5-1 on Friday night.

Reading’s only run came in the sixth, as Alec Bohm’s single brought home Luke Williams, evening the score after a bases-loaded walk brought Brock Lundquist home in the second.

The deadlock was broken in the seventh with four New Hampshire runs, three of which came off Lundquist’s bat in a single to right.

Lundquist collected a double as well, and Kevin Smith ended the night with three hits for the ‘Cats.

Williams ended the night 3-for-4 in the loss.

On the mound, Hector Perez duplicated the success he found against Reading last week, scattering five hits in seven innings of work. He’d get the win, climbing to 7-4 on the year, while the loss went to Reading reliever Jonathan Hennigan for his seven outs of relief in the fifth, sixth and seventh.

Hennigan, now 2-2 on the year in Eastern League play, had not allowed an earned run since July 3, also a game against the Fisher Cats.

The Fisher Cats and Fightin Phils will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 5:05 p.m
