Man arrested for allegedly stealing 2 bikes from Ash Street garage

Beaulieu

MANCHESTER, NHA homeless man was arrested early Friday morning, charged with the theft of two bikes from an Ash Street garage.

On Aug. 10, Manchester Police Officer Matthew O’Connor observed two men crouched down in a mulch bed near Maple Leaf Health Care Center around 1:15 a.m., so he turned the cruiser around to investigate. As he circled back, Officer O’Connor noticed one man was still crouching down in the same spot he had seen him moments earlier. However, the man quickly mounted a bicycle and rode away, once he saw the police car.

Officer O’Connor stopped Albert Gaudreau, 27, of Everett, Mass., on Beech Street, near Pearl Street, and spoke with him. The officer determined the second man, later identified as Jeffrey Beaulieu, 41, no fixed address, had entered an Ash Street residential garage and removed two bicycles moments before the police officer observed them.

Officer Amanda Smith noticed Beaulieu in the bushes outside of 138/144 Ash St., so she attempted to make contact with him. Beaulieu began running from the Officer Smith while ignoring her verbal commands, but was quickly apprehended by Officer Jacob Tyler, who was with his K-9 partner, Bud. Beaulieu was placed into custody without incident and transported to police headquarters. The stolen Schwinn and GT mountain bikes were located on the lawn outside of Maple Leaf Health Care.

Police spoke with a woman at the Ash Street residence and determined the two bicycles, which had a combined value of $700,  were taken from her Ash Street garage. Beaulieu was charged with theft by unauthorized taking, criminal trespass, resisting arrest/detention and an electronic bench warrant. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on August 10, 2018. Gaudreau was not charged in the incident.
