MANCHESTER, NH – A man sustained a gunshot wound to the chest following an altercation inside a Lake Avenue eatery on Friday night.
On June 19, 2026, at approximately, 9:30 p.m., Manchester Police responded to Sunny’s Hot Chicken at 196 Lake Ave. for a reported shooting.
When officers arrived they learned that two men had an altercation inside the restaurant and one had pulled out a gun and shot the other. The victim left the restauarant and was located a short distance away, in front of the Residence Inn on Lake Ave. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and was immediately taken to a local hospital where he is now in stable condition.
The suspect was not on scene when police arrived, but later that night turned himself into Manchester Police. The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Abdi Hassan of Manchester. Hassan was charged with First Degree Assault and Attempted First Degree Assault.
