
MANCHESTER, NH – A man was arrested Monday following a reported stabbing on Central Street.

According to a police narrative, on January 22, 2024, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Manchester Police responded to 259 Central St for a reported stabbing.
Arriving officers located a 69-year-old male outside the residence. He was suffering from stab wounds to his torso, but was alert and conscious. He said a man he knew attacked him with a knife, stabbing him multiple times, before he was able to leave the building and get in his car. He identified the suspect as Robert Hardy, 76, and said he was still inside the building. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police were able to make phone contact with Hardy, but he initially refused to come outside. After some time officers were able to calm Hardy down. Hardy was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder and resisting arrest. It was also determined that Hardy was a convicted felon and was subsequently charged with felon in possession of a dangerous weapon.
Hardy was held on preventative detention and was set to be arraigned January 23, 2024, in Manchester Circuit Court.
