MANCHESTER, NH โ Ricky Morrissey, 52, of Manchester, was arrested July 28, charged with physically and sexually assaulting a women on church property that he’d met earlier in the day.
According to a police narrative of the events leading to Morrissey’s arrest, Officer Rob Megowen was patrolling the West Sideย of Manchester at about 3:15 a.m.ย when he observed a person peering out from behind St. Andrewโs Church, 102 Main St. Officer Megowenย stopped to investigate the situation when he immediately realized something was amiss.
He observed Morrisseyย lying on the grass next to a 53-year-old woman who had fresh blood on her face, knees and hands. It appeared as if she had been assaulted. Officer Megowen called for backup, so Sgt.ย Rick Brown arrived on scene.
Sgt. Brown spoke with the womanย and Officer Megowen spoke to Morrissey. Morrissey allegedly grew agitated with Officer Megowenย and stood upย with a clenched fist. As Morrissey was standing up, Sgt. Brown and Officer Megowen informed Morrissey that he was going to be arrested for the physical assault on the unsuspecting woman.
Police say Morrissey initially failed to comply and was brought to the ground while being placed into handcuffs. The victim was transported to Catholic Medical Center and treated for her physical, non-life threatening injuries. The initial investigation revealed Morrissey had physically and sexually assaulted the woman he had met earlier in the evening. The woman knew her attacker, so this is not believed to be a random act of violence.
Officer Rob Megowen most likely prevented further attacks on the victim. Fortunately, the victim was rescued and placed into a safe environment. Morrissey was charged with; aggravated felonious sexual assault, simple assault and resisting arrest/detention. He will appear in the 9th Circuit Courtย July 28.
