MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ Michael McKellar, 55, no fixed address, was arrested March 7 by police. He is charged with possession of a narcotic drug (heroin) and resisting arrest after police allegedly caught him with a heroin-filled syringe at a local pizza place, ready to inject himself with the drug while investigating an assault call at the homeless shelter.

Officers arrived at New Horizons, 199 Manchester St., on Saturday for anย assault investigation. They arrived at 3:45 p.m. and were told the alleged aggressor, later identified as McKellar, had left the facility and walked toward Santoroโ€™s, located at the corner of Union andย Manchester streets.

The officers checked the restaurant and located McKellarย inside of the bathroom. McKellar allegedly unlocked the secured bathroom door while uncapping a syringe. Officers identified theย brown liquid inside of the syringe as heroin before McKellarย allegedly stuffed it the needle back into his sweatshirt pocket.

Upon doing so, he concealed both hands inside the sweatshirt pocket and initially refused to show the officers his hands. He complied after several requests were made and was ultimately placed into custody and arrested and charged with possession of heroin,ย and resisting arrest.ย
