No. 5? We’ll take it! That is, according to WalletHub.com, Manchester ranks No. 5 among the country’sย “best and brightest” most educated metropolitan populations. We are up there with theย “intellectual elite,” according to research that ranks where the most degree-holding skilled workers.ย But don’t take our word for it. This is information based on findings by the Economic Policy Institute, which also released its report on the effects of education on state finances. The EPIโs findings suggest that college degrees are important in helping to resuscitateย weak economies, and that a primary strategy toward strengthening a state’s economic standing isย to attract well-paying employers โby investing in education and increasing the number of well-educated workers.โ
To that end, WalletHub.com analyzed the 150 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the U.S. to determine where the most educated Americans are choosing to settle based on nine key metricsย โ includingย educational attainment, the percentage of workers with jobs in computer, engineering and science fields as well as the quality and size of each metro areaโs universities.
Manchester is No. 5 โ ranking above B0ston, at No. 10!
Not surprising, given Manchester has become a true “college town,” with a range of campuses around the city, including UNH Manchester, St. Anselm College, Southern NH University, NH Institute of Art, Manchester Community College and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
