MANCHESTER, NH – As some sports wrap up the fall season, others are just entering the stretch run. Here’s how high school teams in the Queen City have performed over the last week:
Football
Division I
Manchester Memorial High School continued to roll, improving to 5-0 with a 41-7 thumping of 1-4 Spaulding Friday night. The Crusaders continue their charge this Friday night at 7 in Hampton against 4-1 Winnacunnet.
The Manchester Central High School football team, which entered last weekend with a 2-2 record, was upset by previously winless Alvirne, 28-14, in Hudson on Friday night. The Little Green look to bounce back this Friday at 7 p.m. when they make the short trek to fellow 2-3 foe Londonderry.
Division II
The Manchester West High School football team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a convincing 34-0 victory at 2-3 Milford.
The West defense led the way, allowing less than 60 yards of total offense. Tyler Hale recovered two fumbles while also providing eight tackles, three for a loss. Jarome Henert provided 10 tackles, two for a loss, and Kingston Green provided two tackles, including one for a loss.
On offense, Gio Doria was 11 of 19 for 155 yards and threw two touchdowns to Noah Sheedy, who provided four catches for 79 yards.
Manny Mandoza also got in on the passing action, going 3-for-6 for 29 yards. He added a two-point pass to Liam King, who led the way in the backfield with three rushes for 79 yards and two touchdowns. He also had four catches for 35 yards.
Hernet had three touches for 36 yards, found pay dirt and had a two-point conversion, and Green had 10 rush attempts for 32 yards and added a five-yard reception.
Elias Abreu had three catches for 57 yards and Austin Martin added a six-yard grab.
The Blue Knights, now 4-1 on the season, travel to undefeated Pelham for a 7 p.m. clash with the three-time defending champs on Friday.
Trinity High School‘s Friday night home game at Merrimack Valley was postponed to Oct. 21. The 3-1 Pioneers are scheduled to face 4-1 St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday at 1 p.m.
