Manhunt underway after Thursday morning shooting leaves 2 injured

MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ Using search dogs and drones, Manchester police officers fanned out across the city early Thursday morning in search of a gunman following a shooting incident.

Police have established two active crime scenes โ€“ one at Manchester and Union streets and one in the alley behind the store at Hanover and Pine streets following a shooting.

At 11 a.m. police confirmed some details, including that two people were injured and that the shooting investigation is centered around Manchester and Union streets.

“Through the investigation, police have determined that the suspect and the victims are known to  each other. Police are actively looking for the suspect,” according to Police Public Information Officer Heather Hamel.

Union Street from Hanover to Manchester are closed off, as well as Londonderry  Lane, between Pine and Union streets. 

First calls came into dispatch at 9:15 a.m., according to Thursday’s police log. Police were concentrating resources in the search near Valley Cemetery, including the use of drones and search K-9s.

At about 10:30 a.m. police issued a Nixle alert informing residents that all DPW services have been temporarily suspended for the day and will remain on hold until further notice. The Drop Off Facility is also closed.
