MANCHESTER, NH — The Zoo Health Club, alongside New Hampshire Executive Councilor John Stephen and community emergency response partners across the state, are hosting a coordinated statewide CPR Challenge on Friday, May 22 from 12 – 1 p.m. at participating locations throughout New Hampshire.
The initiative is designed to promote CPR awareness and lifesaving preparedness for all Granite Staters while encouraging residents to learn critical emergency response skills that can help save lives.
Participating locations include:
- The Zoo Health Club Bedford
- The Zoo Health Club Concord
- The Zoo Health Club Derry
- The Zoo Health Club Epping
- The Zoo Health Club Hooksett
- The Zoo Health Club Manchester
- The Zoo Health Club Nashua
As part of the initiative, The Zoo Health Club will provide a free 30-day membership to all attendees, encouraging participants to continue their health and wellness journey while reinforcing the importance of preventative health and active living.
The initiative also reflects a deeply personal commitment for The Zoo Health Club organization.

In a widely covered incident in 2018, a member at The Zoo Health Club in Derry survived a life threatening cardiac emergency thanks in part to the immediate availability of an AED and the rapid response efforts at the facility. The story, covered by WMUR, highlighted the critical importance of CPR awareness, AED accessibility, and emergency preparedness within community fitness centers.
That experience further reinforced The Zoo Health Club’s mission to promote not only fitness, but also overall community wellness and lifesaving preparedness throughout New Hampshire.
“The Zoo Health Club is committed to improving not only physical fitness, but the overall health and safety of the communities we serve,” said Ed Baroody, Owner of The Zoo Health Clubs. “If more people throughout New Hampshire are trained in CPR and prepared to respond during an emergency, lives can absolutely be saved.”
“I’m alive today because one man took a CPR class a week before he’d need it,” said Executive Councilor John Stephen, referring to a health emergency he experienced in December while jogging in Florida. “I don’t want anyone in this state to lose a loved one because no one nearby knew what to do. I’m especially thankful to Ed and Julian, owners of The Zoo Health Club, for opening their gyms to help promote CPR awareness throughout New Hampshire.”
The coordinated statewide effort reflects a growing partnership between community leaders, wellness organizations, and emergency response professionals focused on improving the overall health and wellbeing of New Hampshire residents.
