MANCHESTER, N.H. โ€“ Despite several rallies, Manchester Memorial couldnโ€™t manage to grab a set against undefeated Hollis-Brookline in girls’ volleyball action on Friday.

Hollis-Brookline took the first point in the opening frame and didnโ€™t look back, earning a 25-12 victory there despite a late Memorial run that cut into what was an 18-point lead at one point.

While the Cavaliers took the second set, Memorial continued to hang around early on. Eventually, the guests opened up a 13-5 lead before dropping five of the next six points. There, the Crusaders battled back to bring the second set within a two-point margin before ultimately falling, 25-18.

In the third set, the Crusaders made their guests earn the sweep, although not before Hollis-Brookline got out to an 8-1 start. While that lead climbed as high 10 points on two occasions, Memorial did take nine of the contestโ€™s last 12 points, a shift in momentum that just came a bit too late.

The victory marked the second this week over a Manchester team for Hollis-Brookline, defeating Manchester Central on Wedneday.

Hollis-Brookline rose to 12-0 while Memorial fell to 1-10. The Crusaders hit the court again next Wednesday at Windham (5:15 p.m.)
