Congested Millyard parking and possible solutions under review during Oct. 19 committee meeting.

MANCHESTER, NHย โ€”ย Theย Committee on Lands and Buildings is scheduled to meet Oct. 19 at ย 6 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chambers to consider a proposalย to possibly expand parking in the Millyard, one of just a few items on the agenda.

A correspondence from urban parking specialists Lansing Melbourne Groupย indicates that resident businesses affected by the lack of parking held a stakeholders meeting in September at Dyn to discuss the need for parking, along with discussion of possible solutions.

The developerย is offering to submit two parking garage proposals, case studies and sample ordinances.

The building, former home of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company, has been dubbed the “Silicon Millyard,” a nod to the rapid growth of Dyn and the desire to develop that sector of the city into a tech hub.

Parking has become problematic there in recent years,ย as most of the commercial space in the millyard is now occupied, including several tech businesses, restaurants and urban college campuses.
