MANCHESTER, N.H. โ€“ Fresh off allowing eight goals, the Manchester Monarchs returned home on Wednesday showed that they could also score a ton of goals if given the chance.

Manchester defeated the visiting Worcester Railers, 7-2, gaining a key two points in the ECHL North Divisionโ€™s playoff race.

Both of Worcesterโ€™s goals, a David Queenneville deflection halfway into the first period and Bo Brauerโ€™s push past the post in the second period, came on the power play.

However, Manchester also excelled on special teams, opening scoring with a shorthanded goal from David Kolomatis, followed by another shorty later by Travis Walsh and a power play goal from Tony Cameranesi.

Walsh and Cameranesi had additional even-strength goals, with Sam Kurker and recently added Alex Rauter also adding goals for the Monarchs.

Kurker and Nic Pierog each had three assists in the win.

Manchester (28-24-1-1) leave the night five points behind Adirondack for second place in the division and five points ahead of Readingโ€™s current spot in last place.

Reading will seek to rectify that situation as they come to SNHU Arena on Thursday night. Puck drop is schedule for 7 p.m.
