Monarchs’ roster core begins to take shape

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Manchester Monarchs 2018-’19 roster is beginning to take shape as they bring two more familiar names back on board for another season.

Over the past week, the Monarchs announced the re-signing defenseman Rob Hamilton and forward Matt Marcinew.

Marcinew, 24, returns to Manchester having played in 52 games with the Monarchs during the 2017-18 season, racking up 35 points on 11 goals and 24 assists. He also recorded one game in the AHL with the Ontario Reign.

Hamilton, 24, skated in 23 games for the Monarchs last season, totaling 15 points on four goals and 11 assists. Hamilton also played 33 games in the AHL, including 30 with the Springfield Thunderbirds and three for the Laval Rocket, racking up 12 points on one goal and 11 assists.

Both players hail from Calgary, Alberta, with Marcinew spending four years at the University of Denver and Hamilton playing 119 games for the University of Vermont.

The Monarchs open the season on the road against the Brampton Beast on Oct. 13 before returning home on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. to face the Newfoundland Growlers.
