MANCHESTER, N.H. โ The Manchester Monarchs and Catholic Medical Center seek to use ice hockey to fight breast cancer this weekend as part of their annual Pink in the Rink game.
On Saturday, Feb. 9, the Monarchs will play the Cincinnati Cyclones with specially designed pink jerseys, a pink ice surface painted with messages of hope and inspiration and a pre-game ceremony honoring survivors of breast cancer.
Dr. Jessica Ryan, Medical Director of CMCโs Breast Care Center, noted the importance of the eventโs importance for her organization.
โIn the fight against breast cancer, no one fights alone,โ said Ryan. โThe evening is really about hope and support. We are excited not only to use the evening to honor breast cancer survivors, but for education purposes as well.โ
Anyone seeking to write a message on the ice can do so by purchasing a โPink Packโ before Wednesday. The Pink Pack also includes a ticket to a future Monarchs game in addition to a ticket to Saturdayโs game and a t-shirt, with five dollars from each Pink Pack going to CMCโs Breast Care Center.
Pink Packs are available for sale at the Monarchsโ website.
