Salem, NH – Senator Chuck Morse, New Hampshire’s longest-serving Senate President, pledges immediate action following the alarming release of an illegal immigrant charged with the rape of a developmentally disabled victim:
“We see too many stories like this. How can an illegal immigrant accused of such a heinous crime be released even after law enforcement files an immigration detainer against them? We need to provide Iron Chad sentencing so our system never fails New Hampshire like Massachusetts has done this family.
“Closing the border is the crucial first step in ensuring that dangerous individuals are not let loose into our country unchecked, but it is clearly not enough. As governor, I pledge not only to prioritize border security but also to work with law enforcement to ensure illegal immigrants who commit criminal acts aren’t released back onto the street. We cannot allow criminals to jeopardize the safety of our New Hampshire families.
“I am committed to safeguarding the safety and well-being of our residents, and I will not back down from addressing any threat to our communities.”
Background:
In a disconcerting incident, a Massachusetts judge released an illegal immigrant charged with the horrific rape of a developmentally disabled victim, disregarding an immigration detainer filed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The accused, identified as Pierre Lucard Emile, was subsequently rearrested by ICE. The enforcement agency expressed deep concern as the Dorchester District Court chose to release Emile despite the filed detainer. Now in federal ICE custody, Emile faces adjudication for local rape charges, with deportation being sought upon resolution.
