Motorist threatens victim and her daughters with knife after hit-and-run

Adrian Yates, 19, of New Boston, is accused of a hit-and-run accident on I-293 after which he allegedly used a knife to threaten the family he hit.

At aboutย 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 9, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police, Troop B Barracks and Officers from the Manchester Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run accident on I-295 near Brown Avenue.

The accident was called in by the victim,ย a mother and her two children, who reported being hit by an orange Pontiac that fled the scene.ย  The operator of the Pontiac was later identified as Yates. According to the victim, she followed Yates to Exit 6 in Manchester while on the phone with police.

While in traffic, the victim reported that Yates brandished a knife toward her andย  her children and continued to drive fromย Exit 6 onto Candia Road.ย  The victim continued toย follow Yates into several parking lots but eventually lost sight of the vehicle. ย A short time later,ย Manchester Police officers andย Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B located the vehicle on Candia Road and placed Yates under arrest for conduct after an accident and felony level criminal threatening.

Yates will be arraigned on November 3, 2014 in the Manchester District Court.
