My husband tried The Reaper at the new Dave’s Hot Chicken. Here’s how it went.

    “Don’t Fear The Reaper”

We got invited to the soft opening of Dave’s Hot Chicken, 1071 South Willow St., Wednesday night (grand opening Jan. 26 if you’ve been waiting for it!) Jim was my plus-one.

He went for The Reaper, which is the hottest of the hot chicken.

    Mini Review

Someone on Facebook asked how Jim liked The Reaper and how the chicken was compared to other fast-food spots:

He says it was really hot and probably he wouldn’t try The Reaper again because it’s almost too hot to enjoy the chicken. But it was worth trying it one time. I tried a “hot” sandwich and the chicken itself was juicy and tasted good. It is a big portion, and it’s served with pickles and slaw on the bun. We don’t go out for fast food normally so it’s hard to compare but I’d say that if you like chicken sandwiches (and they are capitalizing on the “Chicken Tender Capital of the World” theme) you will see why Dave’s Hot Chicken is such a popular chain. Fries: good. Mac and cheese: Bland for my taste – I didn’t add salt or pepper, but a kick of mustard might have perked it up. Pickles: crispy. Milkshake: chocolate enough and eased the burn.
