Nashua man charged with attempted murder following stabbing

MANCHESTER, NH — At approximately 12:30 a.m. on October 28, 2018, Officer Macken and Sgt. Barter were working an extra duty assignment. They were in the area of Elm and Auburn streets and were approached by a 31-year-old male who was suffering from an apparent stab wound to his neck. While rendering aid to the victim they were able to ascertain that the suspect was fleeing south on Elm Street.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury. Officers located the suspect on Willow Street in the area of The Hillsborough County House of Correction (Valley St Jail). Upon seeing the officers the suspect attempted to flee. Officers were able to arrest the suspect for resisting arrest / detention after a struggle.

As a result of the subsequent investigation into the stabbing incident the suspect was further charged with attempted murder, simple assault, and assault on a police officer. The suspect was identified as David Rodriguez, 39, of Nashua. Rodriguez is expected to appear before the Hillsborough County Superior Court North on Monday October 29.
