CONCORD, NH โย Gov. Chris Sununu on Tuesday announced that he will nominate Moira K. OโNeill to serve as Director of the Office of the Child Advocate. The nomination will be made at the January 10ย Executive Council meeting.
โI am incredibly proud to nominate Moira K. OโNeill to serve as the Director of the Office of the Child Advocate,โ said Sununu. โAs an Assistant Child Advocate for the State of Connecticut for 11 years, Moira has the experience, expertise, and passion necessary to advocate for New Hampshireโs most vulnerable children. I commend the Oversight Commission for their hard work in leading this search, and I am confident that Moira will serve our state with distinction.โ
O’Neill, a Yale graduate, has a nursing background and early in her career, worked at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
The position of New Hampshire Child Advocate mirrors the work of child advocates in other states, and will work closely with DCYF to make necessary changes and mitigate problems.
Following the nomination at the January 10ย Executive Council meeting, a confirmation vote will likely take place at the January 24ย Executive Council meeting.
