MANCHESTER, NH — Local author Alison Downs penned her debut Ladybird Adrift to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s and the effects it can have on the entire family. Downs’ publisher seems to agree, as their website states, “An Alzheimer’s diagnosis does not just change the patient’s life, it changes family dynamics… Everyone is affected.”
Downs will appear at The Bookery, 844 Elm St., on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. to again raise awareness about Alzheimer’s, and autographs copies of her novel.
Ladybird Adrift has been praised by readers for its emotionally raw candor depicting how the disease affects patient and family alike. Lurlene McDaniel, best-selling author of Losing Gabriel: A Love Story, says, “…Alison Downs writes a bittersweet novel… This book will move every reader’s heart.”
