MANCHESTER, NH โ On September 1ย The Palace Theatresย of Manchester, NHย willย light-up their venues red as part ofย The Red Alert Day of Action.
Theย Red Alert Day of Actionย isย organized byย #WeMakeEvents,ย #RedAlertRestart,ย and #ExtendPUA. Theseย movementsย aimย to raise public awareness that the live events industry is on red alert for its very survivalย and toย create congressional pressure to act now.ย
The #WeMakeEvents #RedAlertRestart and #ExtendPUA movement is imploring the US Congress to pass the RESTART Act (S.3814) as quickly as possible. This Act offers economic relief to the liveย eventsย industry and the millionsย within the industryย who have been out of work.ย Additionally, the movementย supportsย ExtendPUA.org in their efforts toย continueย the Pandemic Unemployment Actย whichย providesย relief to those without work due to COVID-19.ย It is estimated that 96 percent, or as many as 12 million people in the liveย eventsย industry are currently unemployed, furloughed, or have lost up to 90 percent of their income. Once a robust $35 billion industry, theย liveย eventsย industryย was the first to close and has already enduredย financial losses in the tens of billions of dollars.

With their participation, The Palace joins performance venues, buildings, and residences across North America. This September 1ย event follows the #WeMakeEvents Red Alert Day of Action in the United Kingdomย heldย on August 11, 2020, where over 700 buildings were lit in red across the UK, calling attention to the same plight facing the live events industry there.
โCOVID-19 has shut down the entertainment industry from top to bottom,โ said Palace Theatres CEO and President, Peter Ramsey. โThis event allows us to honor the venues that remain closed at this time. We hope our communityย will take a moment to understand the impactย ofย COVID-19ย on our industry.โย
The Palace Theatres would like to express their most sincere gratitude for their Manchester community at this time. Bothย the Palace Theatre andย the Rex Theatre will be lit in red.ย
This nationwide event will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2020ย from 9pm-12am.
