SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. โ€“ The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team began their 2019 campaign over the weekend, dropping two of three to the Coyotes of Cal State-San Bernardino.

SNHU took Fridayโ€™s game 11-6, thanks to a five-run rally in the tenth. Junior Tom Blandini (Bow, N.H.) went 3-for-5, driving in four runs and scoring three times. Blandini also added one of the Penmenโ€™s four home runs on the day.

Saturday held a different story, with the Penmen dropping both halves of a doubleheader to the Coyotes.

CSBD took the first game 8-5 despite a 3-for-4 performance from sophomore Sam Henrie (Middleboro, Mass.). SNHU took an early 4-0 which was negated by a pair of Coyote home runs in the fourth. The hosts added two more in the sixth to obtain a lead they would not relinquish.

SNHUโ€™s two ninth-inning runs made it interesting, but with the tying runner on base, redshirt junior Joshua Goldstein (Haverhill, Mass.) struck out, sealing the Coyotesโ€™ victory.

he Penmen return to action Thursday, Feb. 21 (6 p.m.) when they open a five-game trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., against Long Island University-LIU Post.
