It’s October 16, 2019. Here’s another recap from the world of Southern New Hampshire University sports.
Men’s Golf
After a promising first day, the Penmen fell to fourth out of 15 schools to finish the Eagles Invitational on Tuesday.
Freshman Jared Mscisz (Danvers, Mass.) entered the day with a one-shot lead, but finished in fifth after ending with a two-day total of 146, five shots behind the championship pace.
As a team, SNHU shot a total 600, nine shots behind Assumption’s tournament best.
The Penmen wrap up their fall slate Friday (Oct. 18) and Saturday (Oct. 19) when they take part in the Le Moyne Fall Shootout at the Lake Shore Yacht Club in Cicero, N.Y.
Women’s Volleyball
The Queen City Cup points go to Saint Anselm, with SNHU falling in three sets on Tuesday.
Senior Baylee Lipincott (Phoenix, Ariz) led the Penmen with nine kills on a night where SNHU posted an anemic .009 hitting percentage.
Senior Joanne Coffey (Merrimack, N.H.) had 14 assists and 6 digs.
This marked only the third loss in eight matches for the Penmen, who are now tied 4-4 in the Queen City Cup standings.
The Penmen (8-8, 2-2 NE-10) are back in action Saturday, Oct. 19 when they take on Mercy College (11 a.m.) and Wilmington (Del.) University (1 p.m.) in a tri-match at Mercy.
Women’s Tennis
Sophomore Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) was named as the latest Northeast-10 Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Etienne went 6-0 last week, all of the wins coming in straight sets.
This marks the fourth week in a row an SNHU player has won the award, with freshman and Etienne’s doubles teammate Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) winning the award over the last few weeks.
