Pipe Dream Brewing, a new business story, told in 4 parts
LONDONDERRY, NH — In an inconspicuous warehouse just off Harvey Road you will find Pipe Dream Brewing. John Bacheller and Jon Young are co-owners of this craft beer endeavor, which just launched May 21.
They may seem an unlikely business duo — Bacheller is about to retire after operating a successful construction business for more than 30 years, and Young, 28, is a former Marine who most recently worked as a corrections officer. They met when Young started dating Bacheller’s daughter, Tori, about a 18 months ago. Their mutual interest in homebrewing gave them common ground. Bacheller’s interest in having something to do once he retires from construction, and Young’s dream of operating a brewery gave them enough common ground to work on a business plan that’s now become a reality.
Pipe Dream Brewing is a veteran-owned business in a retrofitted warehouse. Now that they’ve got a funky space, they’re ready to put themselves on the New Hampshire brewers map — a list that continues to grow. To that end, they will be joining this year’s Granite State Brewers Association’s 3rd Annual Brewers Festival, July 30 at Arms Park in Manchester.
Although Pipe Dream is very much under the radar and off the beaten path, word-of-mouth has been bringing in new customers daily. Bacheller says he often notices beer aficionados sampling beers while simultaneously rating them using their Untappd phone app.
Variety is a draw, and for that reason Young looks forward to experimenting, and switching up the daily list of beer on tap. They also offer a menu of apps and sandwiches, which means they can serve beer by the pint as well, making it a perfect stop, whether you’re on your lunch break, or ready to unwind after work.
