Portland makes easy work of ‘Cats on Fourth

Portland Sea Dogs

MANCHESTER, N.H. โ€“ The Fisher Cats marked Independence Day with another loss to the Portland Sea Dogs, this time falling 6-3.

A pair of two-run home runs from Bobby Dalbec and Luke Tendler were all the visitors ultimately needed, but Tendler added an RBI double in the sixth, as did teammate Brett Netzer.

New Hampshireโ€™s runs came from a Josh Palacios single in the third, an Alberto Mineo sac fly in the fourth and a Christian Williams home run in the ninth.

Williamsโ€™ homer concluded his 3-for-4 day, which accounted for half of New Hampshireโ€™s hits. Netzer grabbed three hits and a pair of runs for Portland while Dalbec and joined Tendler with two hits on the day.

On the mound, Zach Logue (3-6) was able to give the bullpen some rest in the loss, going 5 2/3 innings. He was responsible for all six runs, allowing seven hits and two walks, striking out four.

Kutter Crawford (1-1) was the winner for Portland, giving up two runs off five hits in six innings of work, walking three and striking out nine.

New Hampshireโ€™s loss snaps their four-game winning streak against Portland on previous Independence Days, and also marks the first time theyโ€™ve lost to Portland on the Fourth.

The series with the Sea Dogs continues on Friday at 7:05 p.m. with Justin Dillon (1-1, 5.87) scheduled for New Hampshire against Portland lefty Matthew Kent (3-2, 2.62).
