More than a dozen ceramic artists will set up in Manchester for annual NH Open Doors Tour.
MANCHESTER, NH – Studio 550 Art Center is hosting the New Hampshire Potter’s Guild (NHPG) for a craft show style Potter’s Market during the New Hampshire Open Doors weekend on November 7-8, 2015. NH Open Doors is a statewide shopping and touring weekend where artists, craftspeople, wineries, retail shops and NH-based business open their doors to the public to showcase the best that NH artisans have to offer. It is organized by the League of NH Craftsmen.
The market will highlight the breadth of skill and styles that are located right here in NH. There will be more than a dozen functional or sculptural ceramic artists represented. Having the Potter’s Market in a central place gives ceramic artists who are further off the beaten path a space to exhibit and sell their work during the Open Doors weekend. It also exposes area residents to the range of skill that is located right in NH. The market has been held a variety of places in the past. Even though it has not been held for the past couple of years, the hope is to make the market an annual event at Studio 550.
The market will be open Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 12-3 p.m. at Studio 550 Art Center, 550 Elm St., in Manchester.
There will be a raffle to benefit the NHPG. The NHPG is a non-profit that brings together individuals with a passion for pottery, with a focus on education and community action. The NHPG creates bowls for the annual Empty Bowls event to benefit the New Horizons Food Shelter in Manchester.
In addition to the Potter’s Market, Studio 550 also hosts a Handmade Holiday Market on November 21 from 12-5 p.m. This market is similar in style but has a variety of different media that will be represented. Knitted wares, jewelry, recycled bicycle jewelry, glass arts, fiber arts, paintings, paper art, and more are some of the work that has been created past vendors.
