MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police are investigating two separate store robberies on July 12, and have released surveillance photos in hope of tips from the public to help identify them.
The first robbery occurred at Cumberland Farms, 275 Hanover St. at approximately 4 a.m. The second robbery occurred at A&A Market, 540 Hall St. around 10:10 p.m. Both robberies involved a weapon and the suspect was described as a white male. Police have not yet determined whether the robberies are connected.
An alarm alerted police dispatchers to the Cumberland Farms robbery at about 4 a.m. The clerk told police a robber walked into the store and brandished a small knife as he demanded cash. The robber was wearing a blue sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, a blue winter hat with the eyes cut out and was in possession of a 3-inch pocket knife. The knife had an orange handle and a black blade. Based on a store surveillance photo, the robber appears to be wearing black sneakers with white soles.
The robber fled on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of cash. A track using a police dog was unsuccessful. The clerk told police the robber was most likely a teenager due to the fact he had little facial hair.
The second store robbery occurred late Sunday at A&A Market, just after 10 p.m. The clerk told police a white male, approximately 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-7 inches tall walked into the store with a hammer and a utility/carpet knife as he jumped the counter and retrieved cash form the register. The robber was wearing a black jacket over a red hooded style sweatshirt and jeans when he approached the counter where the clerk was standing.
The robber allegedly took cash and two packs of cigarettes. The clerk chased the robber outside of the store, but lost sight of him as he exited the store. The suspect may have fled in a waiting motor vehicle, but no vehicle description was immediately available.
