Now a federal holiday, Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, is a “day of action,” according to President Biden, who signed the June 19 holiday into law yesterday. “We can’t rest until the promise of equality is fulfilled for every one of us in every corner of this nation. That to me is the meaning of Juneteenth. That’s what it’s all about.”

The Youngsters, a well-known Manchester classic rock trio, come together with folk legends Decatur Creek at The Rex Theatre on 6/17 @ 7:30 p.m. in support of 10,000 Candles for New Hampshire.  Tickets are only $20 to help support the cause and are available through the Palace Theatre box office.

You might think getting through a pandemic while running a buffet restaurant when buffet-style dining is off the menu would be the hardest part of what he’s had to do since opening his doors in August of 2020. But Lenny Abreu says finding enough staff to keep his Golden Corral Buffet Restaurant at full tilt is the biggest challenge he’s encountered in 30 years of foodservice.

Of the approximately 20 residents of the Bucket, we helped about 16 of them move somewhere else in the woods, three of them still have no idea where they’re going, and one of them took a shelter bed with special conditions. If the city’s goal was to move these residents into a shelter, and only 5 percent of them did so, I’d say the city failed. If the city’s goal was to make the lives harder for 19 residents, I’d say they succeeded. As a consequentialist, the city’s intent doesn’t matter to me, only the results, which was more pain and suffering.
