During this past holiday season, the New Hampshire Association for Justice (NHAJ) continued its annual philanthropic tradition of donating 100 percent of proceeds from live and silent auctions held at our holiday party to a local non-profit. In an effort to assist with the resettlement of Afghan evacuees in our state, NHAJ selected the International Institute of New England (IINE) as this year’s recipient.

Bank of America has made a $50,000 donation worth 100,000 meals to the New Hampshire Food Bank to address food insecurity in the state. In New Hampshire, Feeding America estimates one in nine people are facing food insecurity, including 12 percent of New Hampshire children. As the pandemic continues, hunger relief organizations in New Hampshire and across the country are facing ongoing challenges such as increased demand for their services and rising food prices.

The Manchester Board of School Committee (BOSC) Finance and Facilities Committee received rousing applause on Wednesday night from a crowd grateful for their unanimous recommendation of a proposal to provide $220,123 to four BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) youth organizations in the greater Manchester area.

Wednesday, January 26, was an ordinary day, but as it concluded, rather than set my alarm for my usual 7 a.m., I set it for 1 a.m. Yes, I would have only a short nap! The alarm went off and I was up and ready to put on my outdoor gear to be at Families in Transition for 2 a.m. For the next 4-5 hours, I was going to walk the cold streets of Manchester and participate in the HUD Point-in-Time (PIT) count.
