Sept. 19: Golf tournament at Lake Sunapee Country Club to benefit homeless pets

Golf tournament Sept. 19 benefits Pope Memorial SPCA.

NEW LONDON, NH โ€“ The Pope Memorial SPCA is inviting area golfers to swing away on behalf of pets in need at its annual golf outing Sept. 19 at Lake Sunapee Country Club, 289 Country Club Lane, New London, starting at 8 a.m.

โ€œOur annual golf tournament truly combines a fun day on the links with support for our mission,โ€ said Mark Douglas, a board member at the Pope Memorial SPCA.ย  โ€œGolfers will enjoy one of the regionโ€™s premier courses, great prizes, and a terrific post-tournament lunch.ย  And 100 percent of all proceeds directly support our cause.โ€

Douglas added that tournament will feature a โ€œbrambleโ€ format in which each foursome chooses their best tee shot and each member of the team plays his/her own ball from that spot.ย  The lowest individual score on each hole then becomes the team score.

โ€œAs is the case with all of our events, our sponsors play a major role,โ€ said Pope Board memberย Vince Trento.ย  โ€œWe canโ€™t thank them enough for their kind support.โ€ย  Among the sponsors are:

  • Cart Sponsor – The Rowley Agency
  • Ball Sponsor –ย  Nathan Wechsler & Company
  • Tee Sponsors-ย  Davis & Towle Insurance Group; Sanel/Napa Auto Parts; and Jody Segal.

To ensure a great golfer experience, the field will be limited to 18 foursomes.

The entry fee is $700 per foursome which includes cart, access to driving range, lunch, drink coupon, contests, prizes and much more.

Both Trento and Douglas noted that player slots are going fast.ย  For more information or to register your foursome, please visitย www.popememorialspca.org
