It’s October 1, 2019. Here’s a recap of recent news from Southern New Hampshire University sports.
Women’s Tennis
The Penmen took a 5-2 victory over Franklin Pierce on Saturday, taking two of three doubles matches and all but two singles matches.
Freshmen Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) and Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) won in both of their matches, as did sophomore Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.)
On Sunday, Andrade did not lose a single game in her two matches against Post.
Southern New Hampshire won that contest 6-1, taking every doubles match in the process.
The Penmen (4-1, 4-1) return to action Sunday, Sept. 29 (1 p.m.) when they take on Post University.
Men’s Tennis
Southern New Hampshire also took a 6-1 victory against Post on Sunday, also taking each of the doubles matches.
This puts the Penmen at 2-0 for the fifth straight season.
They return to action on Sunday, Oct. 6 (9 a.m.) when they play host to Daemen College at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.
Women’s Golf
After one round in New London, Southern New Hampshire is tied for first with Franklin Pierce in the Penmen Fall Invitational.
Freshmen Gabby Thomas (Johnstown, Ohio) shot a 77, just one shot behind Franklin Pierce freshman and Round One leader Jinnapat Rittawee (Kanchanaburi, Thailand).
The tournament concludes on Tuesday.
