CONCORD, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella on Wednesday released the following statement on the sentencing in Hillsborough County Superior Court – Northern District of Stephanie Beard, who was previously found guilty of second-degree murder and related charges in connection with the death of John Glennon:

“Today’s sentence ensures that the defendant is held accountable for taking a life and for her actions following that crime. The court’s imposition of a 28-years-to-life sentence reflects the seriousness of this offense and the lasting impact on the victim’s loved ones.

We remain grateful to our trial team and to our law enforcement partners, including the Manchester Police Department, the New Hampshire State Police Forensic Laboratory, and the Boston Police Department, whose work was critical in securing this outcome.

Our thoughts remain with Mr. Glennon’s family, and we hope this sentence provides some measure of closure.”

Stephanie Beard was sentenced to 28 years-to-life in the New Hampshire State Prison on the knowing second-degree murder conviction, with 1,405 days of pretrial confinement credit.

On the theft by unauthorized taking charge, the court imposed a sentence of 7½ to 15 years, suspended for a period of 10 years from her release on the knowing second-degree murder sentence. This sentence is consecutive to the knowing second-degree murder sentence if imposed.
