Study praises Manchester’s low credit card debt

You have the power to control your credit card habits.

WASHINGTON – The economic website Wallet Hub has released a study citing Manchester as having the third lowest household credit card debt increase in the United States.

The study looked at 182 American cities over 2022, with data obtained from the TransUnion credit reporting agency as well the U.S. Federal Reserve and Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In the study, Manchester’s average household credit card debt increase was $371, behind just Casper, WY ($318) and Lewiston, ME ($312).  The city with the highest household credit card debt increase on average in the study was Santa Clarita, Calif., at $4,053.

During the fourth quarter of 2022, credit card debit increased nationally by $85.8 billion, the highest quarterly increase ever recorded.
