Dutch companyย Ahold and the Delhaize Group of Belgium announced the deal June 24,ย an all-share merger resulting in a new name,ย Ahold Delhaize.

The deal is expected to be completed sometime mid-2016, and should make the grocery chain more competitive with super Walmart stores, and other discount markets, like Aldi and Costco.

The press release noted cost-savings and corporate sustainability improvements, and mostly outlined company hierarchy. It was posted Wednesday on Hannaford Brothers website, but no details were provided as to what, if anything, customers could expect once the deal is sealed.
