THE SOAPBOX

Stand up. Speak up. It’s your turn.
Too often, our local politicians stand before voters promising honesty, transparency and results, yet their actions tell a very different story. Time and time again, they make claims that don’t hold up under scrutiny, promote policies that burden taxpayers and push agendas that fail to serve the very people they were elected to represent
These officials forget that leadership is about service, not self interest. Their decisions are hurting our city, especially our students, families and hard working taxpayers who expect responsible stewardship of their resources. Instead, we see waste, misplaced priorities and a troubling lack of accountability.
No one should get a free pass simply because they hold office. Elected leaders work for US, the people. It’s time to demand the truth, expect transparency and insist that our representatives answer for their words and actions.
Our city deserves leadership that listens, tells the truth and puts people, not politics, first.
Election day is November 4th, vote Republican to get this city back on the right track.
Melodye Smith is a candidate for Board of School Committee in Ward 2.
