GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – The Adirondack Thunder have now taken two straight contests against the Manchester Monarchs, thanks to a 4-3 overtime victory on Wednesday.
Manchester received a pair of goals in quick succession during the latter half of the first period thanks to Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman and Keegan Iverson.
Adirondack answered at 2:09 of the second period as Shane Conacher lifted his own rebound past Manchester netminder Charles Williams.
The teams would trade goals later in the period, with Monarchs captain David Kolomatis briefly rebuilding Manchester’s two-goal lead before Conacher got his second goal of the contest at 18:55 in the period.
Ty Loney would tie the game up 100 seconds into the third period with his fourth goal of the season against the Monarchs and Desmond Bergin would conclude the contest 1:21 into overtime with a shot sailing past Williams’ glove.
In addition to the goal, Loney assisted on the Thunder’s other three goals, with seven of his 13 assists so far this season coming against the Monarchs.
With the loss, Manchester has now lost three of its five contests that have gone beyond regulation, with both of those losses coming at the hands of the Thunder. The other loss was Manchester’s only shootout loss this season to date, occurring back on Oct. 20.
Wednesday’s contest marked Manchester’s third straight encounter against Adirondack on a Wednesday, with the two teams next meeting taking place at SNHU Arena on Feb. 3
In the meantime, Manchester (21-11-1-1) will next travel to Wheeling for a 7:05 p.m. showdown on Friday.
