Blustery conditions prevail today, with gusts surpassing 40 mph that whip through the air, creating a biting chill. The temperatures are frigid, hovering around 19°, but with the wind’s bite, it feels more like a staggering -1°.


New Year’s Eve Outlook

Get ready to bundle up because the forecast for New Year’s Eve is in: it’s going to be another frosty one! Stay warm and celebrate the start of the new year with some hot cocoa and cozy layers! Arctic air will cause temperatures in New Hampshire to stay in the teens, with a midnight temperature of 22 degrees. The forecast for Times Square, New York, indicates temperatures will be near the freezing point as the ball drops.

Elevations for summits above 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire today: Summits hidden in clouds with a chance of snow (1-2″). Temperatures ranging from 3 below to 7 above zero. West winds blowing at 30 to 40 mph, increasing to 45 to 65 mph above 5,000 feet. Snow chances at 50 percent, with wind chills dropping as low as 54 below.

Elevations between 2,500 and 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire today: Summits drifting in and out of the clouds, with a chance of snow. Highs near 6°F, and west winds blowing 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 80 mph. Snow likelihood is about 50 percent, and wind chills could drop as low as 37°F below zero.
