Chill Out

Cold weather is expected to ease in New England during the second and third weeks of February.

With so much snow on the ground, frozen lakes and rivers, cold soil, and little wind to push in the Pacific air, the warm-up will be slow. By mid to late week, some days will creep just above freezing, with the February sun lending a hand. Ice buildup on local rivers and lakes will halt, and as the snow cover gradually fades, temperatures will climb more easilyโ€”into the 30s this week and the 40s next week.
