Wintry Blast Residents across the eastern half of the country can expect a sudden blast of winter-like weather this week, as a strong surge of Arctic air pushes down from Canada, reaching as far south as the Gulf Coast.

This cold reality check serves as a reminder that meteorological winter is approaching, increasing the chances for frost, freeze, and even snowflakes.

Elevations for summits above 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire today: Summits will be obscured, with scattered snow showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will range from 14 to 24 degrees. West winds will blow at 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 75 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow, and wind chill values could drop as low as 22 below zero.

Elevations between 2,500 and 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire today: Summits drifting in and out of clouds, with scattered snow showers expected in the afternoon. Temperatures reaching the mid-20s, accompanied by west winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 55 mph. A 50 percent chance of snow.
