Wild temps, soggy days ahead

After a pleasant start, New England will turn rainy and chilly later this week. The turbulent nature of spring will be on display this week in New Hampshire, with wild temperature swings, soggy weather and even snow on tap in the mountains into the start of May. Temperature-wise, the air mass moving in later this week is more like what you’d expect in late March or early April. The chill might stick around and linger into the first full week of May. Some will welcome the wet weather as it helps ease the ongoing drought from the mid-Atlantic states to Maine, but for others eager to spend more time outside as May begins, it will be a disappointment. Along with the rain, there’s even a chance of unusually late-season high-elevation snow, as well as frosts and freezes that could delay planting gardens and crops.
