MANCHESTER, NH โ Two people were charged with lewdness, a violation of NH state law,ย following an arrest on Feb. 17 by members of the police department’s special street crime unit, which has been targeting high crime “hot spots” around the city.

Aย plainclothes detectives undercover in the area of Maple and Manchester streetsย reportedly observed aย woman, later identified as Cindy Canney 33, of Manchester, allegedly get into a white pick-up truck operated by David Hoffens, 22, of Manchester at aboutย 10 p.m. Tuesday night.
Detectives said the truck drove to the 800 block of Hall Street where they allege Hoffens pulled over and turned off the truck’s headlights, and the two “engaged in illegal activity,” according to the detective’s report.

Following his arrest, police discovered more thanย 12 grams of marijuana in Hoffens’ย backpack. He was charged with lewdness, possession of a controlled drug and placed on a 72 hour hold for a probation/parole violation.
Canney was charged with lewdness and released on $500ย personal recognizance bail.
