Ukrainian legislators coming to Manchester

Manchester, NH – With the war continuing to rage in Ukraine, five members of Ukraine’s Parliament will visit New Hampshire on September 22 – 28 as a part of the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire’s exchange programs. Throughout their time in the state, these global leaders will meet with the people of New Hampshire, share best practices, and build global connections that will benefit both countries. The highlight of their trip will occur on September 26, where the group will engage in a moderated Q&A at the Residence Inn in downtown Manchester, NH.

This timely conversation will provide audience members with key insights into Ukraine’s struggle to repel the invaders and recapture lands taken illegally by Russia’s army. This firsthand look at the war will provide deep insights into the challenges and opportunities for this country to achieve their goals and what support they need at this time. As Russia continues to escalate the conflict, despite global calls for a ceasefire, the needs of the Ukrainian people to defend themselves grows with each drone and missile attack.

In addition, the members of Parliament will share the impact that this war continues to have on the people of Ukraine. From the abduction of children from conflict areas by the Russian army, to execution of prisoners of war, these war crimes are well documented, but not necessarily well known. Discussions of the painstaking work to record and document these atrocities will provide new insights for many attendees.

This program is funded through the Library of Congress’ Congressional Office for International Leadership’s (COIL) Open World Program, in partnership with the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire. It promotes the sharing of global best practices, the building of international relationships, and the long-term goal of a more peaceful and prosperous world.
